Thanksgiving Day 2024
oil on canvas
41x41cmAs late November approaches and the time for Beaujolais Nouveau's release draws near, I can't help but feel a sense of joy. The tradition of celebrating the harvest, as it was originally intended, by gathering fresh produce from the year's first harvest and wild turkeys from the mountains to set the table and offer gratitude for the blessings of nature, is truly beautiful.
I l ove roasting a turkey and hosting home parties, though I haven't been able to do so in recent years. Still, I deeply cherish the atmosphere and spirit of Thanksgiving.※作品の金額はお問い合わせより、ご連絡ください。

Autumn Leaves and Tulips 🍁🌷 2024
oil on canvas
27.3x27.3cmLast month, in mid-November, during a visit to Fujizakura Mountain Lodge, I came across the vibrant red foliage of the Doudantsutsuji (Enkianthus perulatus). The color was so stunning that I couldn’t resist cutting a branch to bring back to Tokyo. Around the same time, I found tulips being sold at a market near my home in Meguro. These tulips were the season’s first shipment from a flower farm in Fukaya City, Saitama Prefecture.

Karin, almost turning two years old 2024
oil on canvas
41x31.8cmI recently found an old photograph I had taken a long time ago, but I can’t remember exactly how old it is. With today’s smartphones, metadata makes it easy to find the exact date of a photo, but in this case, all I have is the physical print as my only clue. Unfortunately, it wasn’t well-preserved, and even has creases on it.

Late mother 2024
oil on canvas 33.3x24.2cm
She passed away in the middle of last month after celebrating her 91st birthday in April. We feel so sad. She was diagnosed Alzheimer's dementia several years ago. Since then, she had been weak weak and needed to be cared in the hospital but my father also with dementia did not want her to leave him. After all, we forced her to get hospitalized in March but it was too late.
In April, we sent my father to the hospital since his dementia got worse. He has not known his wife's death yet.
The aging society puts us in a delicate issue of how we face old people with dementia.
I wish I could have taken my mother to the hospital sooner.※作品の金額はお問い合わせより、ご連絡ください。

Cancer with a light of hope 2024
oil on canvas 41x31.8cm
I was diagnosed with liver cancer(intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, stage 4) in March, 2023. In addition, it had metastasized to the lymph nodes. Therefore, I was not able to take the abdominal operation for liver resection. Instead
I started taking the anticancer treatment in April, 2023 and since then 8 cycles of chemotherapy were provided.
Although I'm still suffering from the afterfeffects of side effects - nausea and muscle pain(I can't raise my arm), my tumor and involvement of lymph nodes were gone out.
I am so lucky. I would't be surprised if I died at the end of last year. It's a ground breaking case without precedent.
I can feel the light now. It's all about being alive.※作品の金額はお問い合わせより、ご連絡ください。

oil on canvas 45.5x27.3cm
On the last day of July, I finally came back to Nakameguro (the closest station)at 5 p.m. after taking the treatment at the hospital from 7 a.m. It has become my habit to drop by at the flower shop in the supermarket on the way back home. It's too bad that the flower types are limited in summer. I selected 3 colors of gladiolus just because they were fresh.

Flowers for The New Year 2023
I put flowers in a vase at the end of the year, which is a traditional event for me actually. It has been continued for more than 45 years since I started learning Japanese flower arrangement.
I ’ve got so impressed with those two with gold dust powder. They are called "Habotan’ in Japanese. Habotan is something like a Japanese peony. In addition, red and white color combination is thought to be auspicious.oil on canvas 41x31.8cm
