しとしと降る雨に濡れて咲く花は青、紫、桃色がふんわりと混ざり合い、初夏の雨の日特有の霞がかかったような空気の中でとても幻想的。花の色が徐々に変わっていく為、花言葉は、「移り気」。白いのだけは、広くて優しい心をもっているとされ、「寛容」。そういう沢山の紫陽花をギューと詰め込んだリースを描きたかった。

Since hydrangea changes its color based on the pH level of their soil, the language of hydrangea is thought to be “Heartlessness” or “Boastfulness”. In contrast, white one stands for “Generosity’. I have had such an image of countless number of hydrangeas as being stuffed into the wreaths.
